The TZ Mod FAQ Presents...
Adding Lights to Your Upper Playfield
Editors note- I received a response from a reader that the socket listed below is for #89 flasher bulbs and may operate on a different voltage. Per www.marcospec.com, this is true. You may want to try the socket E-120-176. This one appears the same as is for #44/47 bulbs. I would appreciate it if someone with more electronics knowledge than me could e-mail me and let me know if this is correct. Thanks!
All applause and acclaim for this one goes to Jon Christian. He was kind enough to send me detailed pictures and instructions for this mod. I don't think this one has even been on RGP (yet). Thanks Jon!! (From here on, "I" is Jon, not the site author. I haven't done this mod yet... Let me know if any of you mod fiends try this one and have any pointers to make it go better.
Twilight Zone Mini-Playfield Light Modification
Get two 44 lamp sockets, part number 077-5107-00 from Marco or Pinball Resource will work well ( I bent them slightly down after installation so that they wouldn’t be too close to the plastics). They will be attached to the mini-playfield with a ¼” nut in the recesses already in place below the mini-playfield signs. You will also need about 12” of two different color lamp wire (I used white and white-yellow).You will need to remove the mini-playfield, see instructions on how to do so in the manual. You will also need to be able to tie-in the lamps to the GI, which is already supplied to the mini-playfield (lamps under the lampshade at the exit (top) of the mini-playfield). I first located the wires that supplied the GI in the molex connector, then removed the molex crimp terminals from the plug on the underside of the mini-playfield and tied both of the new sockets in series into the existing molex connector.
